Ontario Window Coverings
Business begins as 'The Blind Spot'
Early on we began to be known for providing commercial window treatments and that portion of our business grew at a greater pace than residential.
At the same time our residential business was increasing to encompass softer window treatments and furnishings as we listened to clients and increased the breadth of our offerings to include a full interior design/decor service with addition of trained and experienced staff and designers.
We found that the operating name 'The Blind Spot' was no longer an appropriate name to convey both our commercial as well as our residential business.
Shades of Home was created in order to properly market ourselves to the residential market, a name we hoped would encompass the entirety of our offerings of both soft and hard window treatments, our design services while allowing us room to expand our offerings with a name we considered flexible enough to carry us into the future.
Ontario Window Coverings was established so we could distance ourselves from the residential business and remove any doubt from new commercial clients as to our abilities to service their needs, needs that are vastly different from residential.
Over the next 5 years 'The Blind Spot' was no longer marketed and all correspondence was slowly switched over to their appropriate entities. All commercial business was written under 'Ontario Window Coverings' and all residential business was written under 'Shades of Home.' As we neared the end of the 5th year it was clear that a majority of our past clients no longer were looking for us as 'The Blind Spot' and we removed all remaining identification.
